چکیده
Background and Aim: Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is now most reliable treatment for severe arthritis. However, there a need of study to accurately assess analyze the approach surgeon towards PCL measure its outcome. We aimed clinical functional outcome following posterior cruciate ligament substituted total knee arthroplasty.Material Methods: Present research was carried out at Department Orthopedics, Tertiary Care Institute India where 50 patients were operated, 78 replacements done on duration two years. All assessed clinically functionally using Oxford score. The preoperative medical evaluations all evaluate any potential complications that can be life-threatening or limb-threatening.Results: Most in have excellent 72% followed by good results 14% after treatment. Out 6 patient had post op suprapatellar fullness, which relieved with medications 3 weeks without no signs immediate post-operative period, developed infection months underwent staged revision replacement. Conclusion: Post operatively, pain free joint movements correction deformity. In advanced osteoarthritis, gross varus deformity, fixed flexion deformity sacrificing replacement will give greater mobility function.

Functional Outcome Study in Total Knee Arthroplasty
Objective: The aim of this study was to validate the well-recognized outcome measure instruments (Medical Outcome Study Short Form-SF-36, Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index-WOMAC, McMaster Toronto Arthritis Patient Preference Disability Questionnaire-MACTAR) for patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty in Iran, with its cultural and ethnic differences and com...
متن کاملSimilar outcome after retention or sacrifice of the posterior cruciate ligament in total knee arthroplasty
The purpose of this study was to answer 2 questions: Does the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) produce femoral rollback in a single-design, cruciate-sparing total knee arthroplasty (TKA)? Does the PCL prevent posterior tibial displacement when it is retained after a single-design, cruciate-sparing TKA? Knee kinematics and limits of motion were measured with the knees in the following states: (...
متن کاملKinematics of posterior cruciate ligament-retaining and -substituting total knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomised outcome study.
We performed a prospective, randomised trial of 44 patients to compare the functional outcomes of a posterior-cruciate-ligament-retaining and posterior-cruciate-ligament-substituting total knee arthroplasty, and to gain a better understanding of the in vivo kinematic behaviour of both devices. At follow-up at five years, no statistically significant differences were found in the clinical outcom...
متن کاملPosterior cruciate ligament removal contributes to abnormal knee motion during posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty.
Abnormal anterior translation of the femur on the tibia has been observed in mid flexion (20-60 degrees ) following posterior stabilized total knee arthroplasty. The underlying biomechanical causes of this abnormal motion remain unknown. The purpose of this study was to isolate the effects of posterior cruciate ligament removal on knee motion after total knee arthroplasty. We posed two question...
متن کاملPosterior Cruciate Ligament Retention versus Posterior Stabilization for Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Meta-Analysis
INTRODUCTION Although being debated for many years, the superiority of posterior cruciate-retaining (CR) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and posterior-stabilized (PS) TKA remains controversial. We compare the knee scores, post-operative knee range of motion (ROM), radiological outcomes about knee kinematic and complications between CR TKA and PS TKA. METHODS Literature published up to August 20...
